Sleepover

I found this when I came downstairs after folding a load of laundry. Jackson had a sleep over last night with a friend. Do you think they stayed up late?

TaDa!

It really isn't this dark in my kitchen usually; just playing with the lighting on my camera. We are thrilled to be finished with the kitchen remodel; it turned out well! And, of course, my kitchen is always this clean ;)

When did this happen?

I have a daughter old enough to sunbathe? What?

New Camera...

My search for a new camera was successful, and I spent several hours playing with it. Here's a few of the 597 pictures:

I figured out that you can edit the pictures on the camera, thus the ultra-close shot of Jackson.
I love this picture because you can still see his baby cheeks:
Hmmm. Playing with the ISO didn't have the best results. But you can count his ribs!
Aubrey has about had enough of the pictures already!

Aubrey's Band Concert

This is a video of the first song played by the seventh grade band, "Fanfare." Aubrey is in the front row in the seat nearest to us (we got there early and scored a seat in the second row!!! There were chairs for 600 people and several were standing in the back.) This is her least favorite song, but it's the shortest so it's the one I captured on video. Buhler has an outstanding band program (think I've mentioned that a few times), the seventh grade band received a high-school level I at contest (their band director chose to have them judged to high-school standards). Last year, on New Year's Day of 2008, the high school band performed at the Orange Bowl. It sounds like there is a better than even chance that the band will perform in the Rose Bowl the year Aubrey is a freshman. I am so signing up to sponsor that trip!!!

This second video is probably for grandparents only . . . it's pretty long but I thought you might want to see it. Aubrey is first chair clarinet, which means she leads the band onto the stage, tunes them, seats them, and leads them in standing to honor the director. She was nervous! It take a really long time for the band to enter, but keep watching ;)

Technical Difficulties

In case you haven't noticed, the frequency of blog updates from the Bernings has decreased dramatically. I'm having some issues with my camera, and doggone it, these posts just aren't as much fun without pictures to accompany them! I have lots of pictures and videos on my camera from the past several weeks; band concerts and soccer games and (drumroll please...) my FINISHED kitchen remodel! So anyway, hopefully someday soon I'll get them uploaded and give you something to LOOK at when you're over here at the blog.

In other news, I'm sure you've all heard the old wives' tale that if it rains on Easter Sunday it will rain for the next seven Sundays. So far, at least in Hutchinson, this has proved true. It's a little soggy around here. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but I'd like to work on my summer tan a little.

I missed a perfect video opportunity yesterday; both boys have been spending all their time riding bikes with the neighbor kids. I caught them both speeding towards home yesterday standing up on their bikes - feet on the seat, not the pedals. Oh yeah.

I'm going to the gym to workout while listening to my new ipod, then I'll come back here, finish up a tax return, and work on my camera issues some more. Hopefully soon I'll have some pictures up here!

The Happiest Place On Earth

In case you haven't heard, we are leaving for Disney World May 22nd. The kids are beyond excited. It's so fun making plans and listening to their expectations.... we can't wait!
